Dear guests, dear friends,

Winter has come to Zagreb through the front door. The streets, parks and houses are covered with thick layer of snow – all is white and beautiful. The kids have snowball fights, the adults walk carefully to avoid hospitals, the guys at winter road service have their hands full. But all seems peaceful and calm. One tough year is behind us and everyone hopes this snow erases all the bad moments. Like some sort of cleansing, almost a Purgatory.

Croatia is indeed going through a Purgatory – we finally need to put an end to corruption, bad politics, criminal elite and deal with the world financial crisis in the best possible way. We hope we get a rightous person for President this month as well.
People are longing for positive thoughts and for better days. Finally, we all hope we'll become part of the European Union in the next two years. I am sure our country deserves it – it is certainly one of the European's unspoiled and undiscovered cultural and natural pearls!

Talking about pearls, I need to mention a recently opened cultural pearl here in Zagreb – a new Museum of Contemporary Art. A wonderful piece of architecture, so well integrated in a beautiful natural surrounding of Bundek lake. The Museum is housing a vast range of artefacts (sculptures, paintings, installations, films and other media) and is a cultural must for everyone!

When it comes to inZagreb, we are still pretty much alive and kicking, with a big smile on our faces, despite the world crisis. We have worked on enriching our services and improving our apartments throughout the year.

This includes great city guided tours, introducing safe on-line credit card payment (American, MasterCard, Visa and Maestro), bike rental, new Time Out Croatia guides and nice Croatian music for you to listen to.

We have prepared a Sinatra Christmas album for all those who will be with us in this festive season. You will enjoy yourselves in beautifully decorated apartments with a bottle of champagne cooling in the fridge!

The last few lines are reserved for our dear guest, Ms Lisa Cowey, working on an EU ascension project in Zagreb, who has talked about our apartments for a Croatian business magazine.

This is just part of her interview:

InZagreb apartments are all lovely and all different. They are really welcoming – when I arrive late on a Sunday night I know that there will be some fruit, some tea and coffee and perhaps even a lovely glass of wine waiting for me. Each apartment is different and has a real character that extends throughout the rooms, through the furnishing, the decorations and the colour scheme.

However, what is also particularly engaging about InZagreb apartments is that they permit the ghosts of previous happy "guests" to remain. People leave books behind and recommendations of restaurants that are "off the beaten track". InZagreb apartments make you feel that you have joined a small community. And you really feel part of the town.

Hotels are for sleeping. Apartments are for living! When I came back to Zagreb in Autumn 2008 I invited friends from the new project to come and join me for dinner. We had 8 people sharing the cooking, eating and joking around the table. We cooked with local in-season vegetables from the market. Friends brought cakes from the local shops. We stayed up and talked late. You cannot do this is a faceless little hotel room.
