Are you ready to join us on a journey into Zagreb's past? Every corner of the Upper City tells the story from the city's rich historical background. Including our beautiful apartment Baroque. As its name suggests, this equisite four-star apartment is situated in a beautiful Baroque mansion from the first half of the 18th century. Over the centuries it changed owners – they were all members of notable Croatian families. The house has been divided into a few apartments since 20th century, apartment Baroque being one of them. The apartment has been newly renovated and decorated bringing to life the atmosphere of the Baroque era. The Upper Town, with a backdrop of beautiful architecture and courtyards, museums and galleries provides a perfect place to stay and explore Zagreb. You will experience the city's romantic past by walking along its historical streets illuminated by gas lanterns, taking one of the shortest funicular rides in the world or enjoying the romantic dinner in one of the retro looking Upper Town taverns!
The apartment Baroque is situated on Opaticka street (Nuns street), just behind the Parliament and Church of St Mark, only steps away from the only mediaval gate into the city – the Stone Gate. In the 17th and 18th century there was a convent of St Clare order further up the street. The nuns had a school within the complex and were tutoring the daughters of the noble families – they taught them music, knitting, sewing and good manners. Today it is housing the Zagreb City Museum with rich exhibits dating from the city's earliest history until present. Only 5 min walk from the apartment Baroque you will find yourself on the Zagreb's liveliest farmer's market Dolac with daily fresh range of fruit, vegetables, meats and fish. The minute you step out of the apartment, you will be surrounded by Zagreb's major sights (Church of St Mark, Parliament, Church of St Catherine, Stone Gate, Lotrscak tower etc.). Don't forget, our Prime Minister is one of your first neighbours – his office is just across the street.
Beautiful Downtown area from the second half of the 19th century is also minutes walk from here – you don't even need to walk – take the funicular, one of the highlights of the Upper Town. City's nicest museums (Zagreb city museum, Museum of Naive Art, Mestrovic Atelier, Klovicevi dvori gallery) including a very unusual, newly open Museum of Broken Relationships – are definitely a must!
The apartment consists of a huge lounge room with typical baroque vaults, a study corner (wireless internet), sleeping area with double bed (and a pull out sofa for additional person), dining area for four persons, fully equipped kitchen (stove, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, coffee machine, boiler, toaster) and bathroom (shower, washing machine and toilet).
You will be provided with wireless internet access, max TV with 60 channels, DVD/CD player, telephone (charged according to the meter), hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Complimentary food basics as in all our apartments are also included.
Parking is secured in the courtyard, in front of the apartment entrance. It is a wonderful advantage to have a parking spot right in the centre of the city (for no additional charge).
